Development so far

November 2023

  • Jenni, Helen and Brian started working together on a musical about Hertha Ayrton and her formative years at Girton College, Cambridge. Their first song “Put Out The Fire” was performed at London’s Cambridge Theatre.

March 2024

March 2025

  • Writing team selected as Innovate Artists by Lincoln Arts Centre, with a seed commission to continue developing the show and our links with Lincolnshire and the University.

January-May 2026

  • R&D process at University of Lincoln. A full workshop production of the show was staged by second year students, with Clare Chandler directing.

June-July 2026

  • Short family concerts at summer festivals, performed alongside family physics singalong workshops funded by Institute of Physics. Performances at Cheltenham Science Festival, Great Exhibition Road Festival in South Kensington, Lincoln Family Fun Festival and GAP Festival. The GAP concert took place in a working fire station with Rebecca Rimmer, who was in Oxfordshire’s first all-female fire brigade in 1999.

August 2026

  • A full redraft of show was written and scored for a series of Autumn concert sharings, funded by Mayflower Studios and The British Science Festival, Europe’s oldest science festival.

September-November 2026

  • Performances of our new 90-minute concert version in Southampton, Cambridge and London’s The Other Palace, plus solo concert performances in Cambridge and London.
